FreeRide

On November 19, 2008, in Uncategorized, by William Reynolds

When you want to get a ride home late at night, you have three choices: Safe Ride, the late-night UTS bus service, or a taxi.

Starting today we’re adding another option–FreeRide.

This program is a partnership between StudCo and Yellow Cab to provide safe, free rides to students who are traveling home alone during late night hours. To participate, students just have to show their University IDs to taxi drivers and request a “Free Ride.”

To create awareness and publicize FreeRide, StudCo will be passing out resource cards that explain the different transportation options and provide hours of operation and a phone number for each.

Check out the Press Release and join the Facebook group for more information.

There should be something that is free to all students. The trolleys to get to Greyhound and downtown are not reliable so there should be some kind of free taxi service or shuttle to get to Greyhound for students. It is especially not safe if you have to catch a bus and it is dark.
