I have good lighting at my apartment complex, but there isn’t very good lighting where a lot of muggings and rapes have occurred – around Gordon and Grady between and on the streets of 14th and Rugby. There are a lot of houses there that may not have their landlords apply for lighting, so I wanted to post a request for more.
This is a really great initiative. A lot of attention has been given to recent incidents of violence or sexual harassment, but we need to realize that these occur year-round. Providing additional lighting off-grounds is an effort that can make a huge difference to a lot of people. Thanks so much for investing in this! Keep up the good work.
This would be great! Especially since so many students walk back from libraries or central Grounds via Rugby Road late at night, more lighting along Rugby, Gordon, Grady, and the walk towards Lambeth would make a lot of us feel safer. Thanks for your hard work; it's a much-needed change!
Great article. There's a lot of good info here, though I did want to let you know something – I am running Redhat with the latest beta of Firefox, and the look and feel of your blog is kind of quirky for me. I can read the articles, but the navigation doesn't function so great.
I know this is geared for off-campus lighting, but there is an on-campus area near the U-Hall practice fields that is in serious need of more lighting (and paving), especially considering how many people walk there to get to their cars. It is a little grass/gravel walkway that leads from Emmet St. (on the south side of the fields, alongside the railroad tracks) up towards the parking area at U-Hall Cage Lot. Lighting there would make me feel a lot safer! Thanks.
