Get Ready for the Activities Fair!

On August 11, 2010, in CIOs, From the VPO, Get Involved, News, by Evan Shields

Fellow Students,

Whichever part of the U.S. or the globe you have spent the past few summer months, I hope you have had some worthwhile experiences and learned new things that you can bring back to the UVa community. The start of the Fall semester is right around the corner, and of course so is the upcoming Fall Activities Fair, happening Monday August 23rd at the South Lawn from 11 AM to 3 PM!

The Activities Fair has been a traditional piece of Welcome Week and Fall Orientation- introducing nearly 4,000 First Years and Transfer students first-hand to our vibrant culture of student self-governance.

If your CIO registered for the Fair, here are a few updates that you should know about:

1. Location: This year’s Fair will be held on Monday, August 23rd at the South Lawn – the area of the Lawn surrounded by Rouss, Cocke, & Old Cabell Halls.

2. Check-in & Set-up: Check-in will start promptly at 10:00 AM and continue until 11:00 AM. Your group will be able to set-up within this time. A Student Council CIO Consultant will help you in finding your assigned table, assist you with any special needs, and make sure that your group is situated.

3. The Fair: Between 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM your group can connect with returning students, and help welcome First Year & Transfer students to the University.

4. Clean-up: Clean-up promptly starts at 3:00 PM. Please make sure that your area is clean of any trash, paper, etc. by 4:00 PM.

Need ideas on the best ways to advertise your CIO at the Fair?  Contact the CIO Consultants today at cio-consultants@virginia.edu – they have the expertise to help you get the ball rolling.  Have other questions or concerns? Feel free to email me at studco-vpo@virginia.edu.

Unfortunately, at this time we have sold out of all 400 spaces for the Fall Activities Fair and are no longer accepting applications and registration fees.  However, we invite your CIO to particpate in the upcoming Winter Activities Fair, happening at the beginning of next semester.

I’ll see you at the Fair!,

Evan A. Shields
Student Council Vice President for Organizations
