Student Council’s Athletic Affairs Committee will be implementing its Water Distribution program for the first time at Virginia’s home football game against VMI on Saturday, September 25th. Kickoff is at 1:30 p.m.
Every University student will receive one free bottle of water at home football games when the heat index (a combination of temperature and humidity) is expected to reach 90 degrees at any point after the gates open. In years past, one to two games have hit this threshold each season.
Students will be notified of this decision by signage at Scott Stadium and messages circulating on organization listserves.
The bottled water will be distributed to University students at a tent located above Section 101. Water will be given out during the pre-game, the first half, and throughout halftime. Students must present a University ID to receive a bottle of water. A student’s hand will be stamped to indicate receipt of a free bottle of water. Recycling bins will be placed in convenient locations throughout the student section of Scott Stadium.
