Happy New Year! I wanted to share some information about the upcoming spring University elections and other opportunities on Student Council for 2011.
This upcoming semester, you’ll have the opportunity to run for an elected position, apply for an appointed position, or return as a committee member. If you are not graduating, I strongly encourage you to consider these leadership positions and to stay involved on Council. The long-term success of Council will depend on your continued effort and new ideas.
Elected positions: President, Vice President for Administration, Vice President for Organizations, Representative (serve as one of the Representatives for you undergraduate or graduate school). The mandatory info sessions for all elected positions begin at the end of January and the elections take place at the end of February. Visit www.uvavote.com for more information on available positions and the calendar of events.
Executive Board positions: In early March, the Chief of Cabinet, Chief Financial Officer, Director of University Relations, and Chief Technology Officer will be selected through an application and interview process. The newly elected President and Vice Presidents will oversee this process.
Committee Chair positions: In early March, chairs will be selected for the eleven Presidential Committees, the Marketing & Communications Committee, the Appropriations Committee, the CIO Consultant Program, and the Technology Committee. These chairs will be selected through an application and interview process.
Committee Member positions: In mid-March, the first wave of recruitment will begin and committee members will be selected for all Council committees.
Thanks again for all your work so far! We still have plenty of time to accomplish our goals for the year. We do not transition until the beginning of April, but I wanted to give you a heads up about upcoming opportunities on Council. Please do not hesitate to contact me or any standing Council leader if you’re interested in a particular position.
Please share this information with others.
