This week’s spotlight goes to Shoshana Spiro! Shoshana Spiro, a third year Cognitive Science and Biology major, deserves recognition for her work with the 2nd annual Save A Child’s Heart (SACH) event that raises money for children in need of heart surgery around the world. After visiting the SACH headquarters in Tel Aviv, Israel, Shoshana played a vital role in introducing and organizing this fundraising event with Hoos for Israel, an on-grounds organization, on which she serves as the Vice President of Culture.
Hoos for Israel and the Jewish Social Justice Council (JSJC) co-sponsored the fundraiser, primarily in hopes to raise money for heart surgeries, but also to show that Israel promotes human rights for all children in need around the world. Shoshana and many others who participated in the event will be traveling to Israel in the spring; they will present the SACH headquarters with the $1,032 they raised.
In the future, Shoshana hopes that Hoos for Israel and JSJC will continue to work together in order to build “bridges among communities, serve the underserved, and ensure equal and fair treatment for everyone, regardless of the conditions and circumstances of their birth.”
