Greetings from Umeå!
Hello from Sweden! I am on my first day at my new home for the fall at Umeå University, participating in a joint program between the U.S. National Science Foundation and the Swedish Research Council. After spending yesterday in beautiful Stockholm (picture below), I arrived here ready to settle in around lunchtime today. The area including the surrounding county is about 100,000 – 150,000 people, on par with Charlottesville-Albemarle, and features dense evergreen and birch forest. I’ll have more to share as I learn how life at a Swedish University differs from our own, but through two days this trip is serving as a good reminder to go explore new places.
