When I first started comtemplating writing blog posts I had no idea what to do. I have never extensively used a twitter, and the idea of hashtags and twit-speak seriously scared me. I think that the most useful thing to do will be to detail to everyone what my job entails and why it matters.
I was appointed Chief of Cabinet last spring. That means that my job is to ensure that the 11 presidential committees function effectively. This ranges from making sure committee chairs are working well together, to helping connect committee members to appropriate administrators or community members to help create successful initiatives. We already have a huge number of great initiatives in the works and it’s my job to help make sure that they happen and are successful.
I strongly encourage any member of the university community to contact me with any questions, suggestions, or ideas that he or she may have. I think the best way to be sure that Student Council is responding to the needs of the student community is if we get real input and suggestions from people outside of council itself. I also recommend using Speak Up UVA (Google it) to let us know what problems have arisen around grounds. It’s an extremely useful tool.
I’m extremely excited to get the ball rolling this year and to show everyone that we are entirely committed to improving the quality of life here at UVA. It’s going to be great year.
Love,
Johnny
