Hey guys!

For those of you that don’t know, the Public Service Spotlight is Student Council’s way of recognizing UVa students that are actively contributing to the community and continually demonstrating their commitment to bettering the UVa community and the community at large.  We currently do this by writing an article about them and their public service work in the Cavalier Daily.

Last year, we spotlighted students who have done incredible service work from Erin Franey and Greg Casar who were intricately dedicated to the Living Wage Campaign, to Saamia Noorali who raised well over $15,000 for Pakistan flood relief!

This year, we have spotlighted students all over grounds, from law school student Evan Didier, to a group of UVa women (Sareena Brown,Ariel Majidi, Shreya Kanth, Steffi Costilo, O. Darlene Nnanyelugoh, and Vatsal Patel) who spread awareness of women’s health to developing countries.

One of our committee’s main initiatives this year is to publicize the Spotlight, so that students understand what it is and understand how to nominate students! We want to encourage everyone to nominate fellow students so that we represent the student body in the best way we can.

If you or a friend would like to nominate someone for the Spotlight, follow this link:

Let us know if you have any suggestions, questions, or concerns about this initiative!

xx

Public Service Committee
