Have you registered for UVA Shots yet? You can’t attend men’s basketball games until you do. This season, we’re projected to finish as high as fourth in the ACC by several sources, and with returning players such as Mike Scott, Sammy Zeglinski, and KT Harrell, and 1st years Paul Jesperson and Malcolm Brogdon (Wisconsin and Georgia HS Players of the Year), this team is capable of doing big things.
UVA Shots is the only way for students to get their free tickets to men’s basketball games. Signing up is simple. Just follow these steps:
- Go to UVAShots.com in your browser.
- Click on Sign In on the top part of the screen.
- Click on “How to Sign In For The First Time”
- Follow the instructions on that page – enter your computing ID as your username, then the word “guest” as your password.
- Now that you are logged in, you can change your password on the home screen by typing a new password in the spaces provided, then scrolling down and pressing “Update.”
- To request tickets to games, click on “Request/Claim Tickets” on the left part of the page.
That’s it! There are some features of UVA Shots that are helpful to know about for getting tickets. The more games you go to, the more points you get in the system. Initially, you start off in group 10 – the last group to get to enter the arena (45 minutes before game time). As you attend games and earn Hoo Crew points, your group number will decrease all the way down to group 1, which can enter 1 hour 30 minutes before game time. If you want to get courtside seats for games like Duke or North Carolina, you’ll certainly have to be in the first few groups to enter the arena!
There are two phases for claiming tickets to games. The first is the request period, which generally opens around 10 days before the game. In this period, everyone can request a ticket. You can sign up for email notifications for request periods by clicking the box labeled “Reminder Email” on your UVA Shots home page.
If awarded a ticket, you will receive an email letting you know so you can then go online to print your ticket during the second phase, the claim phase. If the number of tickets alloted for the game was not reached during the request phase, anyone can log on during the claim phase to claim a ticket! You can only enter the game with both your printed ticket and your student ID.
If you request and claim a ticket but fail to attend the game, points will be deducted, possibly making your group number higher. To avoid the deduction, just go onto UVA Shots and choose “Cancellations” from the menu on the left.
The first Women’s basketball game is Friday, November 111 vs Appalachian State. For Women’s basketball, getting tickets through UVA Shots is not necessary. Just show up to the game with your student ID to enter!
The first men’s games are Nov. 13 and Nov. 15th, and the request period begins tomorrow and runs through Tuesday.
