and Student Art Show

In conjunction with Arts Madness Week and the Student Art Show this March, the U.Va. Student Arts Committee will be holding the first-ever auction of student work at U.Va. in conjunction with a week-long exhibition of the work around grounds, celebrating the artistic achievements of the U.Va. community.
The Auction will take place in Newcomb Ballroom on March 20th, at 7:00PM.

Pat Powell, of local auction house Harlowe-Powell, will facilitate, and tickets will be available to the general public.

The artwork that is selected will be displayed around grounds in major libraries and public spaces before the auction.

This is an exciting opportunity for artists within the U.Va. community to receive publicity and recognition for their work.
In addition, this is a rare chance to have your work reviewed by a panel of distinguished professionals and art history scholars.

If an artist wishes to have their work considered for display in the student art show around grounds and not participate the auction, this must be made explicit in their submission.

Submissions will be screened for entry into a silent or live auction.

Jury members include Art History Professor Douglas Fordham,

Vice Provost for the Arts Beth Turner,

and local art advisor and former Christie’s employee Holen Lewis.

To submit work, send no more than 3 pictures of the piece, along with size, medium, and what is needed to display the work, to UVAartauction@gmail.com.

If you choose to submit an artist’s statement, please limit it to a few sentences. All media and formats of art are accepted for submission.
