The Community Affairs committee seeks to strengthen and develop ties between the University community and the greater Charlottesville community. Whether it is through service, support of local arts and music, or engaging local business, Community Affairs hopes to encourage greater mutual acknowledgment and utilization of all of the many resources that UVa and Charlottesville have to offer.

Committee initiatives include:

• Newcomb Hall Appreciation Day: a luncheon where all Newcomb Hall employees were invited to a reception to thank them for their hard work.
• Celebrating Charlottesville: an idea currently still in the works, this event involves inviting members of the Charlottesville community, including local business owners, non-profit organizations, restaurants owners, and artists, to the University for a day to help promote relationships between the student body and the great Charlottesville community.
