Student Council

Current Chairs: Kristin Twiford, Vish Apte

The Legislative Affairs Committee is responsible for representing the interests of University students in the Virginia state government, and encouraging student participation in the political process.

Committee initiatives include:

• Election Night Rally: an event that proved to be a bi-partisan election night rally in Newcomb Hall with multiple screens, free food, games, and prizes.
• UVA Day in Richmond: a trip to Richmond organized by the committee in order to meet with legislators about students’ concerns and priorities.
• Professor Leniency on Election Day: the committee encouraged deans and faculty members to allow students to make-up class or assignments in order to return home to vote on Election Day.
