I am honored and excited to  serve as your Student Council President. I want Student Council to be a tool that all students and CIOs can utilize. Ultimately my goal for the coming year is this: I want StudCo to tangibly better life throughout the UVa community.

I am a fourth year Biology major from Falls Church, Virginia. I have been a part of Student Council for three years and have served at every level of the organization. Outside of Student Council I am also involved in the University Guide Service. I enjoy eating huge amounts of food and procrastinating on work so if anyone is into either of those activities I’m always looking for company.

When I was campaigning for this position I asked people if they could tell me what services Student Council offers to students. The majority of students could not and I saw that as a huge problem. This year one of my major goals is to eliminate that question and to come up with initiatives and services that reach a broader student population. I want us to use data provided from the student body to then formulate events and services, I want to make our representatives accessible and attentive to concerns, and I want us to advocate on behalf of the UVa student body; all 23,000 of you.

It’s going to be a fantastic year. Please do not hesitate to contact me, or any other member of Student Council, with questions or concerns. We are always available and ultimately our mission is to serve students and address their concerns.

Fondly,

Johnny Vroom
