Appropriations

The Appropriations Chairs are resources for CIOs who have questions on supplementing their budget. The team can advise your group about how to present an expenditure report to the Committee, and explain what to expect during the process. The Appropriations Chairs alongside the VPO are in charge of distributing the Student Activities Fee sum to CIOs around grounds. The Appropriations team exists to help CIOs feel supported by Council, and make the Appropriations process as simple as possible, feel free to email us at cio-appropriations@virginia.edu

Meet the Chairs

Mariana Cobo was born in Cali, Colombia and is currently a third year majoring in Psychology and Economics. She served on the Appropriations Committee last year and now as Co-Chair for the committee she looks forward to making the Appropriations Committee more accessible to all CIOs on Grounds and increasing knowledge about the Appropriations process and the SAF guidelines among student leaders. In her free time she volunteers with a non-profit organization in her home country and loves playing piano.

Ashish Makadia, a proud member of the Class of 2014, currently studied pre-commerce and computer science. He is from Richmond, Virginia and in his free time he enjoys going mountain biking on Charlottesville’s many trails and hanging out with friends. As the Co-Chair of the Appropriations committee for the 2011-2012 school year, he hopes to increase transparency of the Appropriations process, simplify the SAF guidelines, and improve the general availability of the Appropriations Committee as a resource to all CIO’s on Grounds.
