Welcome from the Student Council President

At UVA, I have always been amazed at the amount of leverage students are given by faculty and administrators. It really speaks volumes to the respect and trust the community has for the caliber of students that come here: if equipped we’ll be able to do great things.

That’s what Student Council does. Our constitution charges us to protect and improve the rights, opportunities, and quality of life of every student at the University of Virginia, and we do it in a number of ways. Our Representative Body takes in projects from everyday students through SpeakUpUVA.com. Our Committees give students hands on experience in changing the community for the better. Our ties with student groups (Contracted Independent Organizations) allow us to funnel funds and support to initiatives Council can’t take on.

We work for students. We work with students. We equip and support students.

I encourage you to explore the Student Council website. Your elected Representatives and Committee Chairs are always updating the content to keep you in the loop on our newest projects.
