Building and Grounds had a successful “Before You Sign, On the Dotted Line” Housing Fair and Information Sessions. Along with Alumni Hall, and U.Va.’s Housing Department, Student Council was able to reach over a thousand students. This year, we focused on educating students about both the on Grounds and off Grounds housing process, and providing students with the appropriate resources in order to help them make the right decision when it comes to housing.
Also, we have been meeting with the Parking and Transportation Dept. to work out some of the bike lanes and crosswalk concerns voiced on SpeakUp UVa, and are working with Housing to update the lounges in Old Dorms.
Currently, we are working on creating a website that will serve as a ‘one-stop-shop’ of all things construction related. The Office of the Architect has been assisting us with this initiative. With all the new construction projects, this website will serve to inform students on all things construction related.
In addition, we look forward to working with the Housing Dept. to create a ‘Rate My Professor’/‘Course Forum’ style website for Housing. Students will be able to rate their housing experiences and provide feedback for future students! We hope this will give students a more accurate view of the different housing options in Charlottesville.
StudCo LOVE has been a huge success so far. This is one of Student Council’s ways of giving back to the student body. The FREE soda, hot chocolate, and coffee on the Lawn before the Duke football game was a huge success. We passed out soda to approximately 1000 people! We also plan to introduce some great new ideas for the coming semester.
We are here to help make your U.Va. experience exceptional – we appreciate any ideas, concerns, or thoughts you have for us. We are looking forward to a great spring
