UVAirBus: making your Thanksgiving Break travel plans easier
November 11th, 2009Our Student Life committee is powering UVAirBus to make students’ travel plans easier and less expensive. This new bus shuttle service will run to and from the Charlottesville and Richmond Airports during Thanksgiving Break.
Learn more about UVAirBus on its initiative page.
The shuttle service was created after following student complaints about high travel costs to airports and the lack of a shuttle service provided by the University. The Student Life committee created a survey to best cater to students’ airport traveling needs, receiving over 1000 responses. The results allowed the committee to understand the demand for airport shuttle service and shaped the development of the program.
Tickets for the UVAirBus will cost $5 each way to and from the Charlottesville Airport, and $10 each way to and from the Richmond Airport. Shuttles will depart every couple of hours to Richmond and Charlottesville Airports on Tuesday, November 24th and Wednesday, November 25th. Shuttles will return to the University on Sunday, November 29th and Monday, November 30th. The complete schedule and ticket purchase information may be found on the Student Council website. Tickets go on sale Thursday, November 12th at 9am and may be purchased online or at Newcomb Box Office. Each shuttle’s capacity is limited to 32 students.
The program will be evaluated after Thanksgiving Break. The Student Life committee is hoping to expand the program for Winter Break and extend service to include Washington, D.C. airports.
