The Presidential Senate met on Sunday, November 17 to hear a proposal from the University Judiciary Committee to create the Safer Communities Partnership Initiative. The mission of the proposed UJC subcommittee is “to better ensure the respect, freedom, and safety of the multiple communities of the University of Virginia” by bringing together stakeholders from four areas of the University: student organizations, the community at large, law enforcement, and University administration. Recognizing that successful improvements to our community require investment from many individuals, SCPI would bring together relevant parties to share information and discuss solutions. The Presidential Senate voted in favor of the proposal, thus earning it the Presidential Seal.
