If we want the arts to grow at UVA, student (performing) arts groups need space to rehearse. The Student Activities Building is the perfect place to rebuild or renovate into an appropriate and available space for rehearsals and performances for on grounds arts CIOS.
1 Credit Art Classes – We have 1 credit classes for yoga and scuba diving – why not drawing or painting or photography?
Student Arts Fund – Individual student artists are given grant funding to pursue specific projects, which are documented then showcased at the annual Student Arts Fund Gallery! To apply, check back here when applications open October 23rd.
Arts Madness – A week long series of engaging arts events.
Meet the Co-Chairs
Hey guys! I’m Jocelyn (obviously). I’m a 3rd year student from Purcellville, VA who loves music!! I’ve been playing piano since I was 3, and flute since 6th grade. I also sing and play self-taught guitar for fun. I conduct the Cavalier Symphony Orchestra, and am double majoring in music and economics, with a minor in entrepreneurship. I’ve been a Student Council rep since 1st year, but starting 2016, I’m co-chairing with the wonderful Katie Penland!! Regardless of my position with Student Council, I love helping students solve all and any problems!! Even though I’m a hard core Slytherin, you might say I’m a Hufflepuff, because I’m a particularly good finder (of solutions to student concerns).
Apart from school stuff and Student Council, I founded the Unofficial Guide to UVA and the Cavalier Symphony Orchestra, the first all-inclusive, non-audition full ensemble/orchestra at UVA! You can find me in Old Cabell or anywhere with music. Feel free to contact me anytime, especially about the arts!!
