Wahoo Faithful of the Student Section,
Last week we were able to give away over 5,000 water bottles to students and this week we are going to do it again! Today’s game is expected to reach in the 90s according to heat index projections (temp+humidity). One free water bottle will be provided to you by the Student Council Athletic Affairs Committee as part of our Water Distribution program. We love the opportunity to provide for the loyal fans that are going to cheer the team onto victory against Penn State! Below is a little more information of the program and where you can get your water:
Student Council’s Athletic Affair Committee will be implementing our Water Distribution program at Virginia’s home football game against Penn State on Saturday, September 8th. Kickoff is at 12:00 p.m.
This marks the fourth time Student Council has implemented the program, following the Richmond game last week, the William and Mary game in 2011 and the VMI game in 2010.
Every University student will receive one free bottle of water at a home football game if the heat index (a combination of temperature and humidity) is expected to reach 90 degrees at any point after the gates open. In years past, one to two games have hit this threshold each season.
The bottled water will be distributed to University students at a tent located above Section 101. Water will be given out up until the end of the third quarter. Students must present a University ID to receive a bottle of water, and bottles will be limited to one per person. A student’s hand will be marked to indicate receipt of a free bottle of water. Recycling bins will be placed in convenient locations throughout the student section of Scott Stadium.
We hope to see you all at the game! Go Hoos!
