The Student Arts Committee is proud to present our newest initiative, the creation of a permanent Student Art Gallery in Clemons Library. In order to spruce up the bare walls and liven up the experience for those poor souls studying all night long, there will be student-made artwork rotating each semester based on a preselected theme. The theme for the inaugural show is “Identity” – and remember, this is meant to inspire, not to limit!
This is an unparalleled opportunity for students involved in visual arts at the University – your work will be displayed in one of the most fundamental buildings on grounds, and your own peers will be your audience.
To make this happen, however, we need submissions of artwork from YOU. We are accepting many different types of applications and considering all media of visual art (including film and new media) for the first exhibit to go up this spring. Submissions can be of a work already completed or can be a proposal for a site-specific piece to occupy a certain area or wall space in Clemons.
Think big! We are very excited at the possibilities of what can be done and what you will come up with. Take a walk through the library and consider where you would like your work to be hung and include this in your application. If it is possible, we will take your preference into consideration!
SUBMISSIONS ARE DUE ON JANUARY 17TH @ MIDNIGHT, so please take winter break to consider what you would like to create or submit.
The online application can be found here.
Email firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions whatsoever and the committee will get back to you as soon as possible.
