The University Unity Project is an ambitious new concept that will revolutionize student engagement and student governance at the University of Virginia, and allow for the entirety of the University student body to unite behind a well-developed, singular goal.
The aim of this project would be to have as close to 100% student participation as possible on a designated annual effort, which the entire UVA community would come together to focus on. While the Unity Project for the 2008-2009 academic year will be determined within the Project’s Ad-Hoc Committee, future projects will most likely be designated by a student-wide referendum in the spring election. This institutionalized process will allow both students and student organizations to consider several major ideas, eventually centering their efforts to accomplish a single, lofty goal.
The chair of the University Unity Project Ad-Hoc Committee will be Rob Atkinson. Most excitingly for Student Council, the University Unity Project allows the organization to do what it is so evidently positioned to do: bring a wide array of students together to achieve common goals.
Tentative Bill to Create the Ad-Hoc Committee for the University Unity Project, as sponsored by Student Council President Matthew Schrimper
