Virginia Film Festival | UVA Student Council

Do you… need a break from Halloween weekend? Have plans this Thursday-Sunday? Want to entertain your family over parents’ weekend? Love free tickets? LOVE MOVIES?

If you answered yes to any of the above, you’re in luck. The Virginia Film Festival is coming to Charllottesville this weekend (November 4-7), and as students, you get a free ticket to nearly all the movies you want to see!

-For a complete listing of movies and locations, visit

-To reserve your ticket, simply visit TWENTY FOUR HOURS before the movie you want to see and click on “free UVa student ticket” in the top right corner.

The Film Festival line up includes comedies, classics, Sundance hits, documentaries, and everything in between. Some movies are selling out, so hurry up and get your ticket now!

Personally, I’ll be fulfilling a childhood fantasy by attending a showing of Beauty and the Beast at the Paramount on Saturday. The woman who voiced Belle in the original film will be there! If Disney movies aren’t your thing, How I Met Your Mother’s Josh Radnor will also attend a showing and discussion of his directorial debut, Happythankyoumoreplease.

I hope to see you this weekend!
