about Council

We’re students just like you. Some of us are elected, others appointed.

All of us care deeply about the quality of student life at The University. And we work together in a spirit of cooperation and unity to make your UVa experience the very best it can be.

Long recognized as having the most outstanding tradition of student self-governance of any university in the nation, Student Council has played a central role in this UVa tradition for generations. StudCo is composed of more than 300 of the University’s most dedicated student servants, each doing their part to bring you an unrivaled student experience.

The official purpose of Student Council is to protect and improve the rights, opportunities, and quality of life of every student at the University of Virginia. -Constitution
